Dr. Atif Kubursi

Atif Kubursi is Professor Emeritus of Economics at McMaster University. He is also President of Econometric Research Limited. In 1982, he joined the United Nations Industrial Organization as Senior Development Officer. Since then he worked as a team leader of several UNIDO missions to Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sudan, and Egypt. In 2006 he was appointed Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA).

He has published extensively in the areas of macroeconomics, economic development strategies, international trade, impact analysis and regional planning with special emphasis on the environment, tourism and industrial development. He has frequently lectured on globalization issues, economic development, oil and industrialization, impact of tourism on provincial and local economies, political economy of development, Arab affairs and on environment-economy linkages.He has published 10 books and over 250 journal articles and technical reports.

Dr. Kubursi also taught economics at Purdue University in Indiana, USA, was a senior visiting scholar at Cambridge University, UK., and lectured and consulted at Harvard. As a professor of economics who has studied international trade for the last 40 years, what Canada is facing today with respect to renegotiating NAFTA is not surprising but certainly represents a stark contrast with the past record of the American/Canadian trade relationship.

Mirna Al-Jouzy 

Mirna is an esteemed educator with a remarkable 40-year career dedicated to the field of education. With a Bachelor’sDegree in Chemistry and a High Diploma in Educational Leadership, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to both academic excellence and leadership within the education sector. Throughout her journey, Mirna has worn many hats, from teaching Chemistry and Biology to students in the Jordanian National Program and international curricula like IGCSE, A-Level, and IB Diploma Program (IBDP), to assuming key leadership roles such as Science Department Head, Coordinator for various programs, and a vital member of school leadership teams. In her most recent roles before retirement, she served as a School Principal, Head of Academics, and Consultant at an international school, showcasing her versatility and dedication to fostering educational growth and innovation.

Mirna's passion for education persists beyond retirement. She currently serves as a Chief External Moderator in the Teacher Education Professional Diploma (TEPD) program at Queen Rania Teachers Academy in Amman, contributing her wealth of knowledge to aspiring educators. Her significant involvement with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) has further solidified her global impact, as she has served as IB Educator Network (IBEN) member in various capacities, including as a Workshop Leader, Consultant, and Examiner. Mirna's mission remains unwavering: to champion quality education and equal learning opportunities for all learners in her community, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence in education.

Maha Dawood Abed Rabbo is an accomplished educator and curriculum specialist with a diverse and extensive background in the field of English language education. Maha's teaching career began at KFUPM Schools in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where she taught English to a wide range of grade levels. She also specialized in preparing students for the TOEFL exam, offering introductory and preparation courses.

With over two decades of experience in the educational field, Ms. Enasse Sunna' is a highly respected senior professional renowned for her contributions to prestigious IB schools in Amman, Jordan. Suzan Al Shaikh

Suzan Al Sheikh is a dedicated and passionate educator with a remarkable 25-year journey in the field of teaching and learning. Throughout her extensive career, Suzan has exemplified a steadfast commitment to the art of education and an enduring thirst for knowledge. Her pedagogical philosophy revolves around the power of simplicity in employing various teaching techniques to empower and inspire her students.

In 2023, Suzan Al Sheikh became an IB-DP Workshop Leader, ready to share her wealth of experience and expertise with fellow educators. Her dedication to professional development is underscored by her recent attainment of a Master's degree in Leadership in Education from Liverpool John Moores University in 2022. This academic milestone beautifully complements her earlier achievements, including an MBA from TAG in collaboration with the Jordanian-German University in 2014 and a BA in Business Administration from the Jordanian University in 1996. Alia Jabbour

Ms Alia Jabbour has over ten years experience working in one of the top IB schools in Amman, Jordan. In her role as a Math teacher, Alia has been involved in both the PYP and MYP programmes, ensuring vertical articulation and implementation of the math curriculum in accordance with the International Baccalaureate standards and expectations.

As an Approaches to Learning (ATL) Coordinator, Alia works closely and collaboratively with the school leadership, Programme Coordinator, and school section Teachers to ensure implementation and articulation of core skills in their pedagogy to best support student learning.

A resourceful leader, Alia strives to support teachers in their lesson design, inspiring topics and learning activities to ensure ATLs are embedded into learning experiences, thus enhancing learning outcomes for students.

Alia is a certified trainer who holds a Bachelor’s degree in financial sciences and a Master’s degree in educational leadership and management from Keele University in the United Kingdom. A highly organised leader with meticulous skills and great attention to detail, Alia has attended and delivered training sessions pertaining to approaches to teaching and learning.
